Series overview

Set on the magical Italian Riviera, Hotel Portofino follows the exploits of a very British family and their guests over the summer of 1926. Starring Natascha McElhone as Bella Ainsworth, the owner and moving spirit behind the hotel, her caddish husband Cecil played by Mark Umbers and Anna Chancellor as the imperious and hard-to-please Lady Latchmere. Political corruption, sexual intrigue and the theft of an ‘old master’ painting combine to form a gripping story of personal awakening under the liberating influence of Italy’s enchanting culture, climate and cuisine.

Episode 3:

Lucian and his friend, Anish, run into trouble with Danioni’s Blackshirts and have to be rescued by the charismatic Gianluca. Constance is encouraged to make more of her appearance by the hotel’s most worldly guest, Claudine Pascal, while Bella throws a tea party for the locals and Rose lets her hair down with Lucian - but disgraces herself in Julia’s eyes. While Bella and Lady Latchmere bond over family tragedy, Cecil and Jack shake on a shady deal for the sale of his family heirloom.
